1a.That Philips coax cable is marketing hype,any RG59 cable will do.RG6 is required for in-wall and outdoor use.
1b.The Philips Silver Sensor gets good reviews if you can still find one.

I just played a 720p60 h.264/AAC TS video with MPCHC on another computer with a Core 2 Duo E6300 and Radeon 4850. With DXVA I saw around 4 percent CPU usage. Without DXVA CPU usage was around 60 percent. A 720p25 h.264/AAC MKV file used about 30 percent of the CPU with software decoding, 2 perce ... HDV camcorders YOU use? - Since we're on the subject of semi and pro cameras, my vote goes to the Sony EX1 with the Letus Extreme 35mm adapter (aka the Philip Bloom rig).... DVD to single file... - You probably won't like this answer, but you can have the software create an ISO disc image. That's basically an exact copy of the DVD, menus and all. The downside is that it'll require at least 5-10GB to store, unless you use DVD Shrink or DVD Rebuilder and other utilities to compress the DVD further, throw out things you don't want.
